General FAQ
CHARACTER ATTRIBUTES
What do the character Attributes (skills) do?
Strength:
Determines how much damage you do, IF you are able to strike your opponent (If his Stamina is high, you will do less damage!)
Defense:
Determines how well you can block or evade enemy attacks (If enemy has high Agility he will hit you more often!)
Agility:
Determines how likely you are to strike your opponent (If enemy Defense is high, you are less likely to hit him!).
Stamina:
Determines how much damage you sustain IF you are struck by the enemy (If the enemy is very strong he does more damage)
Dexterity:
Determines how likely you are to find an opponent during the hunt search and also affects his defense bonus (if his Hideout is huge and your dexterity is low, you can't find him and he gets a large defense bonus!)
VICTIM LINKS and CREATING MONSTERS
How can I create a werewolf/vampire?
Your Victim link can be found on your character overview page, the Victim link is meant to be used on your webpage, in your forum signatures or to be given to friend and relatives. It must be clear that the link is a Victim link; you may not camouflage the link by using another URL such as nic.de.vu). Players who willfully spam forums by posting the link inappropriately or send the link to strangers via e-mail risk having their accounts deleted!
Here is a sample Victim link for finding victims in the internet, this must be visible when you move the mouse cursor over the posted link!: http://www.monstersgame.co.uk/?ac=vid&vid=XXXX

If someone clicks on your Victim link, you receive a bit of loot and gold and the victim is added to your întreg "victims bitten" in your character overview. However, if victims then register MonstersGame accounts, they are not counted as victim; instead the new monsters appear at the bottom of your overview as "created werewolves/vampires".
Why do some players have more more created monsters shown than there were bitten victims?

Created werewolves/vampires are not listed as victims, they appear instead as "created werewolves/vampires".
Notice : If new registrations are no longer possible on a server, no further monsters can be created through victim links... we are working on a solution to this problem!
THE TOWN
Buildings currently found in The Town conține the Shop, the Graveyard and The Sentinel Kennels.
The Shop sells weapons, armor and items, while the Graveyard can offer you various jobs to earn a bit of money. You can buy a Sentinel and train or upgrade your current Sentinel in the Sentinel Kennels.
How can I buy a weapon, armor or items?
Click on The Town in the game menu at the top of the page and from there click on "The Store" on the left side. The sale price listed is the amount need to buy the item, the buying price is the amount you will receive for selling the item! Boni (and mali!) from weapons, armor and Sentinels are automatically applied to your Attributes when you fight, you don't have to equip these items!
If you have enough money and a high enough level to buy a certain item, you will see the link "Buy now" to the right; if you can't yet buy the item, only --- appears there.

This can be useful if you want to buy or sell many items but if you don't know about this feature, it can be confusing because you think your money has simply vanished!!
How can I sell items that I no longer need??
Click on The Town in the game menu at the top of the page and from there click on "The Store" on the left side. In the list of items you can only click on the link "Sell" next to items of which you have at least 1; if you have 0 of an item, you will only see (Your inventory: 0 ).

Why are some weapons more expensive than others that are actually better?
This is due to the role-playing nature of the game. Some players may be willing to pay more for a weapon that better fits their character's personal identity. These players may be willing to sacrifice +2 damage as long as their character looks "right" to them with the weapon!
ITEMS
Health Potions
Health Potions can be bought in The Store in The Town; these potions heal you by increasing your health points by a certain amount (e.g. 50 or 100 points).
Using Potions
You can find your current inventory on the Overview page, potions are at the very bottom of the page. To use a potion, simply click once on the "Use" link. Be careful, you can accidently use potions even if you currently have the full number of health points!
IMPORTANT! ->> If use the f5 button to actualise the screen after drinking a potion and have more of the same type, you will again drink the same potion! This can be useful if you want to heal a lot of damage but if you don't know about this feature, it can be confusing because you think your potions have simply vanished!!

The effects of potions that increase your stats do NOT summate! That means that you can only increase your stats once per hour, drinking another potion will have no effect!
Can I use more than 1 weapon?
You can OWN as many weapons as you like but only the best weapon is actually used to calculate the results of the fight.
There have been a few reports that the best weapon is not always the one shown in Battle Reports, we are working on this problem!
RAIDS: THE HUNT and THE MANHUNT
I lost even though I was much stronger than my opponent!!
The game is heavily based on chance to give even weaker players a chance once in a while! EVERY MonstersGame player has experienced a loss at one time or another when they were sure of a win.
Your Health Points also play an important role in fights; if you only have 35 points and attack a much weaker enemy, he only needs to cause 25 points of damage to win, because the fight ends as soon as one player has less than 10 health points!
Why do I win such small amounts/lose such large amounts when I fight?
The winner of the fight receives 5-10% of the loser's current total Gold (this may vary by 1-2%!). If you lose and had 10000 Gold, your opponent will get 500-1000 gold! If you win and the opponent had 10 Gold, you will only get 0-1 Gold!
Can my character die??
No, you can never have less than 1 Health Point and fights end as soon as one player has less than 10 Health Points.
Why do I always get less Gold from Manhunts than my friend XXXXX?
The results of the Manhunt are based on chance; your race, sex and account status (Premium, no Premium) have NOTHING to do with the result. If you go on a Manhunt for 30 minutes or less at a time, there is a 10% chance that you will find nothing. Manhunts of more than 30 Minutes are ALWAYS successful. The more time you spend on a Manhunt, the better the chance becomes that you will end up in a large city, where you receive more Loot and Gold than in other locations. Hint: On average you will receive the most Loot and Gold if you use your Manhunt time in 10 clipe increments!
I was attacked during a Manhunt/while working/while I was logged out!
You can always be attacked, unless you have already fought in the last 60 minutes! Your Hideout also cannot prevent you from being attacked, it only makes you harder to find and gives you a defense bonus, IF you are not working or on a manhunt.
Each time you are attacked OR attack someone yourself, you cannot be attacked again for 1 hour (this is what's often called a "safety-fight"). You can of course still attack other players, here you are limited to either one attack every 5 minutes for De lux players or every 15 minutes for free players.
What can I do with the Flesh/Blood I have earned?
The Flesh/Blood Loot is simply a sort of way of measuring how much experience you have in the game and determines where you are in the high-score list, because the list is sorted by Loot as a default. You can't use your Loot to buy or do anything.
How can I get more Gold or more Flesh/Blood?
So far there are 3 ways to earn GOLD directly in the game:
1) Work at the Graveyard (costs nothing, the pay depends on the character level).
2) Hunt Werewolves/Vampires (costs 1 Gold, the search is not always successful; its success depends on YOUR Dexterity level and the level of the OPPONENT'S Hideout but only IF he's in the Hideout).
3) Go on Manhunts (Costs 10 Gold, may not always be successful if you perform manhunts of less than 30 minutes at a time)
There is only 1 way to earn FLESH/BLOOD directly in the game:
1) Go on Manhunts (Costs 10 Gold, may not always be successful if you perform Manhunts of less than 30 minutes at a time. Manhunt also gives you Experience Points if successful!)
Other methods for earning GOLD/FLESH/BLOOD:
GOLD:
1) Place your Victim link in (appropriate and game-rule conforming!) areas of the internet that will lead people to click on your victim link; each click of your link gives you a bit of Loot and Gold.
2) Each Premium Ticket you buy and activate will credit the player account with 250 Gold as a bonus.
FLESH/BLOOD:
1) Place your Victim Link in (appropriate and game-rule conforming!) areas of the internet that will lead people to click on your victim link; each click of your link gives you a bit of Loot and Gold.
How does the Graveyard work?
Click on the link "The Town" in the main game menu and from there click on "The Graveyard" on the right side. There you can select how many hours (from 1-8 hours) you would like to work; the wages depend on your level, because your current character level determines your job description at the Graveyard. Once you begin working you can't perform any other actions in the game (i.e. training, buying items, buying Sentinels etc.). You CANNOT stop working until you have completed the entire amount of working-time you entered. There are no current plans to change this system, so always choose the amount of time you want to work wisely! Once you are done working, return to the Graveyard to pick up your wages.
THE HIDEOUT
The Hideout: What does it do?
Your Hideout makes it harder for your enemies to find you and gives you a defense bonus when you are inactive, that is ONLY IF you are not "busy" working or on a manhunt. Your hideout DOES NOT prevent you from being attacked, it just makes it more difficult if you are "at home". The higher the level of your Hideout, the harder you are to find and the higher your defense bonus becomes. Your opponents need more and more Dexterity to find you the better your Hideout becomes.
PREMIUM ACCOUNTS
Benefits of Premium Membership:
- With a Premium Account the game is free of advertising
- Premium players can upload an avatar
- For every activated Premium Ticket you purchase, you receive a bonus of 250 gold coins
- Premium players can attack opponents every 5 minutes instead of waiting 15 minutes
- You can perform fidel searches for opponents of a specific level
- You receive two hours of manhunt instead of only one
- If you click on an opponent's name you see any recent reports from previous fights with him
- Your current ranking in the highscore is shown in your overview
- You are free to change your character's name as often as you like
- You can buy premium sentinels such as hellhounds and hellgargoyles
- Your sentinel can be given a new name as often as you like
Changing your avatar picture (Premium only)
Simply upload thenew picture and actualise the screen. You may need to log out and then log in once again or perhaps even empty your browser cache and delete your MonstersGame cookies before logging in again in order for you to see the new avatar.
Premium Tickets per Bank Transfer
Bank Transfers may take up to 8-10 days or even longer if made outside of Germany. You will find your Premium tickets listed under "Premium" in the Main Menu when they have arrived.
GRAPHICS PACKAGE:
Here's how you install the Graphics package on your computer, reducing page-loading times for the game and helping to reduce the load on the servers:
1. Download the Package
The following link contains all of the current graphic packages for MonstersGame.

2. Extract the graphics Package
Extract the graphics package to the directory of your choice, using the option to keep all folder names (with WinZip under "Extract" check "Use Folder Names" in the Menu)! Our example uses the directory c:/monstersgame/skins/
3. Set up MonstersGame to use the graphics Package
Click on the "Profile" link in the main Game menu and enter the proper path for the graphics package, but add /img to the path folder you extracted the files into. If you extracted the zip to: c:/monstersgame/skins/ Arrow enter the path c:/monstersgame/skins/img in the field provided in the game options!!
Save the settings in your Game Profile with the link at the bottom of the page. The graphics package should now be loading from your computer's hard drive!
Solutions for some common problems:
- Be sure that the path you entered is correct!
- Be sure that the path was written with a / and not with a \
Attention Firefox users:
In order for the graphics package to be properly loaded from your hard drive, you may have to change some settings in Firefox. Try this solution:
Enter "about:config" in the URL field of Firefox (where you would normally type a web address).
This will open a configuration file, which has a setting for Firefox in each line. Find the entry "security.checkloaduri" and change the value to "false".
NOTICE:
If you are using Firefox 1.5 or higher, please read the following!
Checkloaduri was removed in Firefox 1.5 and no longer works, instead you can select this option for single sites. To do so, create the following file in the Firefox profile folder (usually C:\Documents and Settings\<your-windows-username!>\ApplicationData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles<randomlettersandnumbers>.default)
This folder contains system files, you may need to activate the option in Windows "File Options/View/Show Hidden and System Files and Folders" in order to see all folders!
The file you need to create should be saved as "user.js"; be sure you save it by selecting "all files" and NOT as a .txt file!!
With a text editor (i.e. notepad) enter the following to user.js:

Problems with Opera
Some Opera users may be unable to load the graphics from their hard drive. These users MUST upload the graphics package onto a webspace for it to function. If your webspace is called http://www.my-host.com, then save the pictures there in a new directory called /img. Then enter the following on the MonstersGame "Settings" page in the field "Path for your local graphics package:":

Your pictures should now be loading from your webspace, it worked for me right away!
OTHER PROBLEMS
MonstersGame Login Problems:
First of all, make sure that you are actually logging in correctly; check your spelling, upper- and lowercase letters and spaces! If you still can't log in, delete your MonstersGame cookies and empty the cache in your web-browser. You can also have your password sent to your e-mail address again if think you forgot your password!
Server Problems:
The server is slow and laggy/the server is not responding?
There are certain times of day where there is a greatly increased amount of traffic on the game servers, causing a certain amount of server overload. This is a known problem and we are working on it!
ONLY POST THREADS REGARDING SERVER PROBLEMS IN THE SERVER COMPLAINT THREAD! All other threads with complaints about server problems will be closed without comment!
Why can't I attack or send mail to players on other servers?
The servers are not connected to one another! There is absolutely no interaction possible between servers! |
